The Death of Hope: Part 2

Artist: You matter to me.
Blue: I know. But feeling like I was actually mattered to Gunmetal and Sapphire would have been nice too.
Artist: I guess no matter whether you're born a Dalek, or how hard you try to please them, some people will always see you as a Cyberman.
Blue: Whatever. It'll be nice to return home, and see my friends again. I'm just not sure what details of our trip I should relate to Pocket and Denim.
Artist: Just tell them you enjoyed your trip, and thank them for sending us.
Blue: But that's not completely true.
Artist: Perhaps not. But in family situations, it's often best to smile quietly, than speak the truth that's in your heart.
Blue: Not a lot of other species realize that Daleks have hearts.
Artist: Yes, but then few species are as perceptive as Daleks.

The Death of Hope: Part 1

Artist: How would you assess our visit with Gunmetal and Sapphire?
Blue: I enjoyed how they provided the consumables I most enjoy. Yet they devoted our precious time together largely their friends and their usual activities.
Artist: You mean, like they always do?
Blue: Inquiry: How can you get close to people who always shield themselves with others they see far more regularly, and with whom they thus feel more comfortable?
Artist: Questions like those are difficult to answer.
Blue: I've always wanted to be a better Dalek for them. I would have given anything for that. Yet I get the feeling they never wanted that, that all they wanted to do was push me away.
Artist: It's a good thing we're Daleks. At least we can protect ourselves against injury, existing as we do within our armored travel machines.

The Dangers of Egg Coloring: Part 2

Rex: Sir, I have another question about our coloring.
Artist: Not another one, please!
Rex: I think it's important.
Artist: Listen, I've given this a lot of thought. There's no need for you to worry about anything. I've selected pastel colors for our coloring. Don't worry about covering up the brown: it'll make a nice contrast with that pink. Take it slowly. Remember to build up your color slowly, and shift colors when you get tired of working with one. Above all, have fun. After all, that's the reason for pursuing any art project. Just free up your mind, and enjoy yourself.
Rex: Great advice. I still have a question, though.
Artist: Okay, fine. Shoot. I mean, go ahead and ask your question.
Rex: I was just wondering. Of all the mediums we have at our disposal, are Prismacolor pencils really the most appropriate choice for coloring these fragile, thin shelled eggs?
Artist: What? You think we should use watercolor pencils instead?

The Dangers of Egg Coloring: Part 1

Artist: So, are you ready to color those eggs?
Rex: I suppose so. I have one question, though.
Artist: Shoot.
Rex: You want me to shoot you?
Artist: No, that's just a Human ex--
Rex: Because I can fire on you if you wish. I can Exterminate you if you desire.
Artist: Uh, perhaps you should just ask your question.
Rex: I was just wondering why one of my eggs was brown.
Artist: You're not as used to coloring as me. I thought I'd give you a head start.
Rex: And you naturally thought I'd want to base an Easter egg in brown?
Artist: For Davros' sake! I was just trying to help. Just shoot me, will you!
Rex: All right, if you insist...

Tight Dome Syndrome

Artist: So, what do you think?
Blue: Oh, um...Master will love it.
Artist: I'm was just worried, you see.
Blue: How so?
Artist: Well, I heard this year's cake would be blue, and--
Blue: Blue? I'm honored!
Artist: No, I mean, if I'd colored the cake blue...
Blue: Yes, I completely understand. I'm so wonderful, that you don't want to risk increasing my inner cranial pressure.
Artist: Tight Dome Syndrome can be painful.
Blue: Yes, and no one wants a swollen head. Not even a Dalek. It's ever so unbecoming.

The Season of Giving: Day 10

Christmas: Artist, we love all your drawings and paintings. You inspire us so much every day.
Artist: Thanks. Uh...
Christmas: I know, it's coming. They just have to finish it. They worked really hard on it. They're nearly finished, really.
Artist: My olfactory sensors record no baking aromas. Heat sensors fail to detect the oven has been used recently.
Christmas: Oh, I think you'll like this better than candy or cookies.

Artist: Salt and Pepper, you knitted this Sunflower just for me? I shall treasure it forever!
Christmas: More than a piece of Dairy Fudge, a Footie Bar, or a freshly baked cookie?
Artist: Shh.

The Passing of Autumn

Artist: You know, I'm really going to miss the passing of autumn.
Autumn: Why? I'm not going anywhere.

Squashing Our Dreams Of Pluto

Artist: If the Daleks chose to conquer a giant space pumpkin, nobody would cry foul. We could carve it up as we wished, fit it with a propulsion system, and we'd be hailed as inventive heroes rather than despicable villains.

Blue: If you desire others acclaim, you'd better choose a suitably large pumpkin planet. People expect heroes to tackle immensely big projects.

Artist: How true. These squash remind one of the demotion of Pluto.
Blue: How so?
Artist: When Pluto was classified as a planet, every Human school child wanted to travel to there. But how many kids dream of traveling to just another chunk of rock and ice at the outer boundaries of our solar system?
Blue: You're suggesting that the scientific community's reclassification of Pluto's astronomical status EXTERMINATED romantic associations, giving Human children one less reason to aspire to become astronauts?
Artist: I was going to say squashed, but yeah, I suppose EXTERMINATED will do.
Blue: Boy, do I ever want to accompany another Dalek on my next visit to a pumpkin patch.
Artist: Oops, sorry. In a moment of reflection, I forgot that Daleks are chiefly regarded for their sunny dispositions.

Channeling Frank Herbert

Artist: Hey, Blue! Check out this banana squash!

Blue: It reminds me of Paul Atreides and Stilgar riding a giant sand worm across the desert planet in Frank Herbert's novel Dune.
Artist: Or Ishmael and Captain Ahab conquering the great white whale in Herman Melville's classic novel Moby Dick.
Blue: Or the great white shark in Jaws.
Artist: Do you think Steven Spielberg was channeling Herman Melville when he filmed Jaws?
Blue: No way! Change the desert of Arrakis to the aqueous regions of Earth, and you've totally got Dune. Steven Spielberg was clearly channeling Frank Herbert. Even the Cybermen know that.

Never Leave Children Unattended

Artist: I'll drive.
Blue: No, I'll drive.
Artist: No, I said I'll drive.
Blue: Didn't you hear me? I said I'll drive.
Artist: You will let me drive, or I will Exterminate you!
Blue: Make one move toward the steering wheel, and we'll see who Exterminates who!

Blue: What do you mean, this is why you should never leave children, or Daleks, unattended? I find that remark deeply offensive!

Addiction Crazy

Blue: Look, with this platform, I'm as tall as you.
Artist: I'd be careful of standing on that, if I were you.
Blue: Why?
Artist: You risk contracting a human addiction called--

Blue: Whoa! Why all this shaking, and all these dancing lights?
Artist: It's what I tried to warn you about. Get off quick, before you succumb to Disco Fever!

Blue: You know, I'd be willing to risk Disco Fever, for a bite of these burgers and sweet potato fries.
Artist: I'd be careful about tasting those, if I were you.
Blue: Why?
Artist: You're just addition crazy, aren't you?

Those Devious Druids

Red: So you think the recent discovery of this "Superhenge" will cause scientists to reappraise the role of the Druids in building Stonehenge? Even though the Humans now claim the Druids came later?
Artist: Never underestimate the Druids.

Capturing The Inner Hulk

Hulk: How's it going?
Artist: Just putting on the finishing touches.
Hulk: Can I look now? Can I? Can I?
Artist: Yes...all right.

Artist: Well, what do you think?
Hulk: Oh my. So much anger. So much rage. So much pent-up violence!

Artist: Then you like it?
Hulk: It's incredible! How did you manage to so fully capture the inner me?
Artist: It's a gift. Now come on, let's exterminate a few sodas. I'm buying.
Hulk: Are you kidding? After your masterful portrait, I'm buying!

Artist: It is here, it is here, come look, it is finally here.
Rex & Denim: What is it?

Artist: A masterpiece!!

Daleks, Bunnies, & Penguins

Thor: So what's with the rabbits and penguins? Aren't you drawing Daleks any more?
Artist: I wanted to try something new, to really unleash my creativity.
Thor: By Odin, I love you mortals! You're so audacious! Fly, be free, my Dalek brother!

Pocket: I don't understand. Why would the Easter Bunny visit the South Pole?
Artist: Emperor Penguins only get one shot at parenthood during mating season, which also occurs during the stormy season. I figured the Easter Bunny might want to help out some unfortunate penguins by giving them his leftover eggs.
Pocket: Sounds reasonable. But how would he travel down there?

Eleventh Doctor: Yeah, sure. If the Easter Bunny's amenable, I'm game. Provided, of course, that K-9 lets me inside the TARDIS.

Artist: But you'd only have to step outside the TARDIS for a few minutes! Think of all the sad Emperor Penguins who endure so much hardship, only for a storm or a predator to destroy their eggs! You've got your fur, after all! Do the right thing: be generous with your leftovers!

Artist, Thor, Pocket & the Eleventh Doctor Daleks
(Oh, and one reluctant, as-yet-undecided Easter Bunny)

To learn more about all the hardships Emperor Penguins endure to raise their young, check out "March of the Penguins." An amazing story, about a truly alien species.

Rusty After the Doctor Who Episode "Into The Dalek"

Rusty: I have seen the stars in the sky. I have seen great beauty. I am--
Artist: Yes, you have seen my sketches, haven't you?
Rusty: I am a good Dalek!
Artist: Uh, well, you seemed to like my sketches, so yes, I suppose you are.
